Taurus Horoscope for January 2012

It's January and you are thinking of taking a vacation now that the year-end holidays are over. That sounds so funny, but I am serious. The holidays can be strenuous, and with four loving heavenly bodies - last week's new moon, Sun, Pluto, and Mercury - acting like little friends who want you to enjoy a new setting, consider flying away to a mountainous spot that will give you the change you crave.

If you can, it would be a great time to go. You were able to get into the spirit of the season, and you are not about to simmer down into work mode if you can help it. There's nothing wrong with squeezing a few more joyous days into January, especially in the first part, before the pace picks up. Mars is still moving through your house of romance, so you would find this to be the perfect time to enjoy your partner, or if you don't have one, to meet someone new. Travel and love will be linked this month, another reason to look quickly into travel packages.

The new moon that arrived in the divine-for-Taurus sign of Capricorn on December 24 (2 degrees) urged you to spread your wings, so perhaps you already were at the airport last week. If not, the universe is rolling out the red carpet leading to the tarmac. Later, on January 12, Mars and the Sun will be in ideal sync too, another signal that spending any time away would refresh you in a way that would allow you to return with fresh ideas and a new perspective.

Not everyone can pick up and go, so if that describes you, the same house of the horoscope rules the generation and study of ideas and intellectual concepts, as well as the shaping of attitudes and opinions, so you may want to go to a lecture, book signing, or even a thought-provoking movie that you can discuss afterward with a good friend or sweetheart. Find museum exhibits, book signing events, concerts, or a new Broadway show you've promised yourself that you'd check out. Your mind will be especially active and craving intellectual stimulation. Perhaps you are returning to college, either as a matriculating or continuing education student, or are busy writing or defending your thesis. The ninth house, where the new moon appeared, also encourages deep thinking, especially about philosophical topics and the mysteries of life, or social and political concepts.

A very practical way to use this new moon would be to apply for a passport, green card, or visa. Government activities are covered by this area of your chart that is so brilliantly lit, so even if you have no plans to travel, it's always wise to have a current passport ready.ÿAlternatively, the ninth house rules the courts. You may be called for jury duty this month, and you may actually enjoy being in a courtroom and seeing democracy in action. If you are bringing a case to the courts, you have the right aspects to help you, as Jupiter, ruling justice and fairness, is in a place that can be very helpful to you, so it's a good time to file a case, or try one.

If your birthday falls on or within five days of April 22, that new moon of December 24 will continue to be helpful to you.

If you simply can't go on an overseas or distant trip, then consider a short little overnight one, perhaps in a snowy countryside, say, in an elegant estate bedroom that offers a roaring fireplace. Travel over the weekend of January 7-8 and be back by the full moon, January 9. This new moon will be perfectly angled to Mars, so it should turn out to be an incredibly romantic trip.ÿ

Taurus born on May 7 will find the January 9 full moon very beneficial.

Think about contracts and agreements at the full moon too, and if you have any on your desk, it's a good time to sign. Remarkably, in the first three weeks of January, every one of the planets will be moving direct speed, with none retrograde. Soon that will change, with Mars going retrograde January 23 until April 13, and Saturn about to move backward February 7 to June 25. If you have a choice about when to sign, you always want your planets moving direct if possible, because they can be more helpful to you. Now, while the planets are strong and supportive in early January, go right ahead and sign those papers.

For choosing a day to sign papers, I like Friday, January 6 the best, because Mercury, the planet that rules agreements, will be in conversation with Saturn (longevity) and Jupiter (profits). If Friday does not work for you, it will be fine to do so Monday, January 9, too, at the full moon, as these aspects will still be close enough to help you.

Your biggest moment of the month may occur on or after January 23, when your career may become vibrant and filled with opportunity. This is simply one of the most important points of the year for you to aim for a top new position and to profile in your industry. A new moon always opens opportunity, so you may get an offer. Keep in mind that you only need to begin talks to make this new moon work for you, not actually nab your prize. It may take time - months - of interviews, but what matters is that you take those first steps after January 23.

This new moon is extraordinary, because it falls in Aquarius, and the tightest aspect it makes is to signal Uranus, its ruler. That makes it super-powerful, so if you want to find the perfect top level job for you, keep your eyes open at this new moon, and even go a step farther: Ask friends for positions that are so new and hot, they'll never make it to the listing. With Uranus so friendly AND active, you are likely to hear things suddenly and even in a weird way. Perhaps as a matter of chance, you'll find yourself at precisely the right place at the right time. Something about this will be a little strange or random!

Certain types of positions will be especially favored for you now, and most fall in the electronic / scientific and high tech area (such as television, Internet, digital media, software development, telecommunications), social work, not for profit, and humanitarian, charitable, or political causes.ÿWith Saturn in your sixth house, it seems likely you do not have enough assistance and team members to get the job out, and so much is falling on your shoulders to do. This situation is not forever, but it will keep up until the end of September. Saturn will finally leave the place it is now, Libra. If you are interviewing for a new position, you may want to ask about the kind of support staff you will have at your disposal. Saturn may also cause you to have problems finding babysitters, housekeepers, gardeners, and other helpers at home too.

If you are interviewing for a job, I feel this may be important to ask about, because you would not want to have all the responsibility but none of the authority to hire more helpers, so that you can get the work done on time. You have dealt with this type of situation since October 2009, so it's nothing new, but I was thinking about you and seeing how hard you've been working. I thought I would mention this thought, in case you find it helpful. If you are self-employed, it may be that you simply can't afford to hire anyone new, or if you can, you may be finding it hard to enlist workers with the experience or skills you need. Again, this situation will improve later this year, so hold on to that thought!

Do you work in a creative field? With Mars in the part of your chart associated with artistic expression for a very long time - until July - you may be working on a massive project that has a lot of bits and pieces. Now that Mars is about to retrograde from January 23 to April 13, you may need to backtrack to refine some parts of the work you already did. In every part of the creative process we always have to redo things, so that the end product is as beautiful and perfect as we could possibly make it. Be cheerful when this happens - later, you will be glad you did. (Say, when you are up for that Oscar, and thanking the Academy for all their faith in you.)

In the first two weeks of January, from January 1 to 13, Venus will light your tenth house of professional success. The buzz about you will be very positive, and you'll be able to create an admirable amount of praise for your past work. During the first half of January you will find that VIPs will be quite willing to help you, and later, when the new moon appears in your career sector on January 23, you may see evidence of just how much they value your expertise.

Your social season will kick into high gear when Venus moves into Pisces, a water sign that blends elegantly with your earth sign element, on January 14 and remains in Pisces until February 8. That period will be your best for enjoying love and for improving your looks. In the latter case, if you were thinking of doing something special for your looks, such as to change your hairstyle or color, or to buy new clothes, you will get lots of compliments with all you do while Venus is watching out for you. I suggest you plan your actions for January 12 or 13 - two days that changes you make will be ones you really like. Also consider scheduling a treatment Monday, January 30, when a pampering treatment or stylist's advice turns out to be just right.

Earlier we spoke about Mars going retrograde and that it may cause you to reconsider or redo parts of a creative project. Mars in retrograde mode from January 23 to April 13 may have a similar effect on your love life, to coax you to look back and think about your closest relationship. Are the two of you out of sync? Do the two of you hold similar expectations and timetables for goals you hold? If you are newly dating, do you feel you've moved the relationship forward too quickly? Because Mars is in your fifth house of love, you can use the coming three months to adjust things to precisely the way you want them to be.

There is one glamorous evening coming up that I feel is simply out of this world lovely, January 13, when Venus will dance with Neptune and create a magical memory. The moon will be in Virgo, a perfect placement for you. I give this day three gold stars - be sure to plan something!

Then, the next day, January 14, brings another one of your best days of the month, worthy of four gold stars. Your ruling planet, Venus, will reach out to Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, and bring you an exciting, tender, and highly romantic opportunity. Actually, when your ruler, Venus is involved in any positive configuration, you would also get to enjoy so much more than romance - you'll feel lucky in all areas: money, career, work, and so forth.

Jupiter is now moving forward in Taurus at strong speed, so you will start to see soon that the world is your oyster, and you can achieve anything you put your mind to this year. Last year you may have read that Jupiter, planet of good fortune, was in Taurus for the first time in twelve years, but oddly, the last four months weren't all that wonderful, so you may have wondered why. The reason things were a bit lackluster was because Jupiter's been retrograde since August 30, and only recently, on December 25, turned on his full power. This was good news for everyone, but especially YOU because Jupiter is still in Taurus.

From this very moment, until June 11, you will have Jupiter all to yourself. You are the celestial favorite, dear Taurus, so focus your efforts on the projects and opportunities that are most vital to you, and be careful not to spread yourself too thin. Chances to scale great heights in your career will be exceptional. The eclipses have been working on your sources of income, and there is a likelihood of change. If you lost a source of income, later you will see the eclipses did you a favor, for I see a raise coming by late May or June.

If you didn't see anything develop in regard to money (positive or not so positive) last month near the eclipse December 10, or later, then watch the time near January 9, for I have found that often an eclipse will deliver its news one month to the day later, plus or minus five days. Keep your antenna up, dear Taurus. If you DID see something happen, you would NOT see another piece of news in January - you already heard. However, if you lost a source, you may find a pipeline of money this month near January 9, so keep looking.ÿ

Among the people you meet in the coming weeks, several will have a big impact on your future course, and one in particular may also turn into a romantic interest. I have found that in those rare instances that Jupiter tours our Sun sign (or rising sign), we have the best chance at meeting our one true love. You may only get eight of these yearlong visits of Jupiter to Taurus in a lifetime (the last one was in the year 2000.) However, some of those visits from Jupiter happen when you were very little, and then again, when you are in your nineties, so as you see, on the two extremes of the spectrum, you have a limited way of using Jupiter's golden luck. You have it now, so find a way to put it to good use.

Once you get to June 2012 and Jupiter leaves, you will enter a rewarding financial period. Here is a key point: The money you earn then will be directly linked to the seeds that you planted while Jupiter was in Taurus. You will have five and a half months of Jupiter, but later, in mid-May and June, Venus, your ruler, will be retrograde. In other words, act sooner than later.

Make your list of priorities and think about where you will be in one year. What one thing would you most like to achieve by the time you get to January of next year? Iron gates are about to fling open for you. All conditions are right for you to forge ahead and finally grasp the prize you've had your eye on for so long - Jupiter's golden energy is in your hands. How will you spend it?

Summary

If you didn't get away for the holidays, you'll have a chance to sneak out of town for a short trip, perhaps over the weekend of January 7-8 or January 14-15. Go soon, for as January progresses, you'll be too busy. Career opportunities will be bursting open and projects will stack up on your desk. As it is, for months you have had many projects to oversee, and with Saturn in your workaday sector, you likely had too few co-workers to help you. Carrying so much responsibility on your shoulders is difficult, but you found a way to adjust.

All the work you've been doing over the past year has come to the attention of influential VIPs, and unbeknownst to you, they have drawn up a short list of candidates to consider for a top job. Your opportunity to interview for this spot will come up in the days that follow the new moon, January 23. Uranus will be in ideal angle to the moon, indicating that any offer that comes up will come out of the blue in an exciting way. Have your resume and CV up to date on your desktop at home.ÿ

In love, you still have Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, at your side in Taurus for the first time in a decade, a yearlong advantage that started last June. Jupiter will remain in Taurus until mid-June 2012. This is the single best place for any planet to be to help you find true love. The presence of Jupiter in your sign behooves you to mix and mingle - all you need to do is have that first fateful meeting.

Also due to be a big help is Mars in compatible Virgo, now touring your fifth house of new love, making it easier than ever for you to get warm attention from someone new and intriguing. Venus in Pisces will help you get more invitations from friends, from January 14 until February 8. This same period marks a good time to check in with your stylist for an updated, refreshed look.

If you have been dating someone awhile, the turn of Mars retrograde may give you pause, and you may either change your mind about your romantic partner or decide to slow the tempo of the relationship, perhaps allowing it to proceed at a more leisurely pace. If you are married, you may be talking about having a baby soon, but you seem to be unsure of when you'll be ready to start your family. By spring you'll be feeling more confident - your last minute jitters are only temporary.

More travel is likely over January 7-8 or in the week of January 9-13, due to the full moon, January 9.

Your career is about to take off like a rocket after the new moon January 23.

Mars in Virgo all month is a boon for your love life, but now that Mars is turning retrograde on (also) January 23, you may change your mind about a person you are dating or slow the relationship down.

If attached, you may change the timetable for a pregnancy earlier or later, after other conditions enter the picture in late January.

January 14 should be outstanding socially - Venus will be in perfect angle to Jupiter! Venus is your ruler (a ruler you share with Libra).

All news is good news for you on January 8!

Career news is good news January 20-22.

Why My Book Is Late

All year I was listening hard to all that you asked me on Twitter and Facebook. I realized how valiantly you were all coping with the challenges that a difficult world economy had wrought, and how dearly you needed to know which areas of your life would be bring you the greatest progress and happiness.

I had a manuscript almost ready, but thinking about your words, I felt I had to add much more material to it. What you asked me and what you said on my social networking pages kept echoing in my mind. So in November, I announced to my team I was lengthening the book dramatically. I was adding chapters and doubling each sign's chapter from what I had already written, which are now almost four times as long as my regular Astrology Zone forecasts. Only you can be the judge of what I have done, but I feel this book, still in progress, is the best book I have ever written. It would be easier if I didn't have to stop to write 40,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but of course, I would always do that!

I set out to create a book that would help you every day of the year. Why, I asked myself, write a good book when I could stretch and push myself to create a great one for you. By now you know I am a perfectionist. My revamped book is the very best I have ever done. It is not finished yet, but I am working every day around the clock on it. It will be wrapped in joy and happiness and it will be of value to you. I have no idea when it will be done, but I know there is great urgency. I am working every minute on it.

You asked about digital versions. My book WILL be available on all versions of Kindle, Nook, and iPad. Apple has a long waiting process for publishers posting a manuscript, so the other two digital versions, on Nook and Kindle, will appear before the iPad.

In the meantime, please order my calendar, The Year Ahead 2012, which is ready. I carefully wrote in each important day, and all the explanations are in easy-to-understand English. I do not use glyphs or astrological language in my calendar; everything is explained in a crystal clear way for a layman. I know you just want to know what is coming and how to plan for it!

To create my book and calendar, and to prepare for my talks, I memorized 312 charts (13 lunar months times 12 signs, times two lunations each month: a new moon and a full moon). I started this in April. I memorize all the aspects because sometimes something happening in one part of the sky will influence an aspect happening in another part of the sky - no aspect can be taken alone, by itself. For example, last year, on what was to be the luckiest day of the year, April 6 (Jupiter conjunct the Sun), we also had Saturn opposed to the Sun on the same day, completely washing out the happiness of the luckiest day of the year. I didn't even discuss it in my book - how could I? You see how I have to be vigilant to all parts of the sky for you - you are depending on me to do my homework thoroughly.

Many of you know my mother was extremely ill with pneumonia this summer and in intensive care and then in a nursing home for physical therapy for four weeks. My sister and I were at her side every day to help bring her back to her former strong health by showing her love and attentiveness to all her medical matters, and when she could eat, we brought homemade meals. Little Mom is well now. She is home, and doctors, who were ready to give up on her, cannot get over the remarkable recovery she has made.

I don't regret one minute the time I gave her to get her well again, even though it did take time away from my writing. She has no one but my sister and I to depend upon - together we worked as a team to get Little Mom well. This year the holidays were especially poignant, as we watched her blue eyes sparkle with delight in being with her four grandchildren, who had gathered around her at home to give her love, presents, and kisses.
