Aquarius Horoscope for January 2012

When I think of how January will begin for you, I am reminded of a beautiful poem by Carl Sandburg that is one of my favorites, "Nocturne in a Deserted Brickyard," that talks of grace and beauty found even in "an old pond" or common old deserted brickyard at dusk. When I read this, I feel the "pond" the poet speaks of is not a pond at all, but the ocean, where all of mankind's dreams mingle as one, in a universal way:

Stuff of the moon

Runs on the lapping sand

Out to the longest shadows.

Under the curving willows,

And round the creep of the wave line,

Fluxions of yellow and dusk on the waters

I see you experiencing the start of January in a soft, peaceful, serene way. In the cold beauty that January brings us in the northern hemispheres where I live, there is a stark loveliness about January. The harsh weather tends to strip nature to her essentials, and we see her beauty in high relief. You have planets in the most meditative place of the chart, and the quietest (twelfth house), allowing us to think, reflect, pray, and reconnect with our spirit within.

Like nature in January, you too will be able to see the edges of your life, cleared and de-cluttered, and ready for you to add new things that you hope for 2012. You stand at the end of a year's cycle, and once you make it to the third week of January, the Sun will move into Aquarius, and you will start off your new birthday year. It will be your time again.

Spending time mulling over your options before acting is always wise, of course, and during those first three weeks, the loving universe will give you time to take a breath and decide about what matters most to you. You may have been very busy socially last month, but once you made it to the new moon, December 24 last month, you likely began to pull back on your social obligations into the comforting warmth of family and fewer, but closer, friends. You probably did this naturally, instinctively, and like a little pebble worn from the rushing waters over its little head, you wanted to retreat to a place where you could hear your private thoughts ring crystal clear in your head.

Last month's new moon on December 24 brought you outstanding support from Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, now based in your home and family sector. You may be thinking of moving, leasing, or buying a new apartment or house soon, or making some important renovations to the space you live in now. Jupiter will help you make your dream happen, but you would have to begin planning and collecting estimates now. By June, Jupiter will have departed from your home, family, and real estate sector, and you won't have the luck you have on your side now. Before that happens, not only will you have special luck concerning your space and the people with whom you share it, but as well from professionals you enlist to help you with your space, such as a decorator, contractor, or architect.

The fact that Venus is about to spend nearly a month in your home sector starting January 14 to February 7 is a sign you will be eager to improve the look and comfort of home. You may be buying new things on sale and finding they really hit the spot!

If you say you have no money, and can't possibly find a way to do anything for your home, think again. Jupiter can see to it that something you dearly want - to make your home more "you" - can happen. I will tell you a little story as an example, one that happened to me.

My two children were very little at the time, and my husband was out of work. Money was tight. Those years I spent a lot of time in my building's community laundry room. I noticed a sign on the bulletin board: glass dining room table for sale. I had always wanted a very large glass desk, one that was not ordinary but special in some way, and with very thick glass, at least 1.25 inches thick to support my desktop computer and a lamp. I don't like cramped desks - I wanted it big, but that I would keep as a clear, clean, serene desktop. I looked at the dimensions of the dining room table that day in the laundry room and realized it was small for a dining table but the perfect size for a desk.

I immediately called the lady who posted the sign and she invited me to view it. There was my desk! It was perfect in every way. She was moving and had to a sacrifice it. If I would buy it, she said would give me her beautiful white couch that seated three. Could I take both for the $500? I emptied my purse and told her to wait - I would be right back - as I headed to the ATM across the street. She asked how I would ever transport her furniture, and I said I knew of an excellent messenger service that can transport anything safely. That was a long time ago and I am still enjoying my desk. (I loved the couch too, but I since replaced it with another white one, years later.) I tend to keep fresh flowers next to my large flat 23-inch computer screen.

I never thought I would ever find the right desk, and never thought I could afford it once I found it. Yet there it was, in the form of a handmade sign hanging in my building's laundry room. Surprises happen all the time when you have Jupiter's protection, and like you, I had Jupiter in my home sector. Nothing is impossible when it comes to your dreams for your home - expect to get lucky and don't accept second best.

You have had Jupiter in your home and family sector since June of last year, but by August Jupiter went retrograde, and you had to wait until Jupiter awakened from his nap to feel his glow. That happened on December 25, the best gift Santa could have delivered. You will have until mid-June to see your home-or-family goal through to completion, with late April and early May the best time ever.

Now let's turn to the topic of fitness and health, which may be a main focus at the full moon, January 9. Lots of people make this a number one New Year's resolution, and happily, for you, you have all the right aspects this month to make yours a reality. Watch for the full moon January 9, plus or minus four days, when your plans will click into place.

It would be a great time for you to join a gym, or if you are already a member, to join a new class that you've never tried, or treat yourself to a package of training sessions. If the holidays have depleted your bank account (possible - more about that in a minute), you can look on your TV listings for a fitness exercise class that you can take when it is convenient, at home. There are fitness classes running all the time, but you may not have noticed them.

This full moon of January 9 will reach out to Mars, the action planet, which tells me you won't just think about things, but will act on your ideas. Excellent!

You can also schedule annual medical and dental appointments at this time. It is the little things we do that mean a big difference. If there is anything I have learned in life, it's that good health doesn't just happen - you have to fight for it every day of your life. Making appointments can seem like a nuisance sometimes, but in fact may turn out to be the most important thing you ever do. Why not schedule everything in January when cold winds blow? (My apologies to my readers in Brazil, Australia, and other countries on the other side of the equator - it's warm where you are! You should still use the energies of this new moon!)

This same full moon January 9 will bring a work project at the office to fullness, and may bring you a nice profit as a result, especially if you are self-employed or work on commission / bonus or licensing fee basis.

Financially, you seem to have had a lot of dealings with banks, venture capitalists, or other financial types lately. Mars is making a very long journey through your eighth house of "other people's money." That trend started in mid-November, and will extend all the way to early July. Mars has also likely increased your spending since then, and while you may assume it was for holiday shopping, the indications are that your elevated levels will continue longer, through June.

Alternatively, Mars' position suggests you may be intent on seeking an infusion of cash, perhaps to buy a house or condo, since you have such help from Jupiter for solving home-related questions. (Once Jupiter leaves, he will not return to your home and family sector until 2023.)

Here is what you need to keep in mind: Mars is about to go retrograde from January 23 to April 13, so you may run into delays or glitches in that time in terms of any paperwork you may be sending, say, for a mortgage or university financial aid. To try to keep those delays to a minimum, take extra care with the accuracy of all the forms you fill out. Double check your business plan projections if you are presenting one to a venture capitalist group. Errors could really multiply when you get to the second half of March when Mercury will ALSO go retrograde from March 12 to April 4. Go slowly and be sure all is shipshape.

Knowing that Mars is about to retrograde in a financial sector, plan to complete all you can to file paperwork early. Make the January 9 full moon (plus five days) your absolute deadline. I never advise coming up too close to day when a planet is about to turn retrograde when scheduling important actions.

Here are your most outstanding days for financial meetings and talks:

First, circle January 6 when Mercury (which rules your eighth house of other people's money) is due to have a friendly conversation with Saturn on your behalf. Saturn will bring his gifts of stability, so look into ways you can stabilize your income on this day. It's perfect for signing a contract.

You will also have excellent vibrations for increasing your income on January 8, when Mercury and Jupiter will combine energies. It's a wow of a day, and if you can't sign papers then, the following day, the full moon would also be a good time to do so, because it will be so friendly to transiting Mars in your eighth house.

Next, a confidential talk you have about money on January 12 will go exceptionally well, thanks to Mars' contact with the Sun for you. Talk about favor from authority figures! You could sell ice to the Eskimos on this day.

You seem to have the Midas touch, because on January 14, Venus in Pisces (in your second house of salary and personal, earned income and outgo) will meet with Jupiter. Again, home-related matters may come up, but the money you need seems to be there for you. At the very least, you'll have a sympathetic banker or other financial person who will move mountains for you.

Your biggest moment of the month will fall on January 23, when the new moon in Aquarius, 3 degrees, will appear. Circle this day in gold, for it will open a portal of time that will last two weeks, and within that time, all that you do will be a step toward a dream dear to you - your actions will have weight in the days that follow the new moon. Although you will have two weeks in which to act, I feel you should do so sooner rather than later.

There is nothing as vital as your annual new moon in your birthday sign, and the seeds you plant in the weeks that follow this new moon can grow very quickly if you nurture those seeds carefully. You may assume that one new moon is just like another, but that is not true - this one has YOUR name on it. Use it in any way you please - think of it as special currency to direct in a way you see fit and that would do you the most good.

What also makes this new moon so unusual and special is that this new moon will send a dazzling beam to your ruling planet Uranus, so surprise opportunities are likely to come up, straight out of the blue! Uranus is in your house of communication, so the news is likely to come to you through email, by phone, or SMS, not in person. It's also alternatively possible your sister or brother will go out of his or her way to help you - see if this holds true!

The month closes on a fabulous day, Saturday, January 28, when Mercury, the planet of thinking, meets with what we call its higher octave, lifting the ideas of Mercury into the realm of genius. This is a great day for creative brainstorming, for a truly brilliant idea may result. Also expect a surprise message by text, email, or post, or a fabulous reason to take a spontaneous trip.

The closer your birthday falls to January 23, the new moon, the more you will feel the wonderful benefits of it. If this describes you, be happy - It's your turn, dear Aquarius, and Happy Birthday!

In matters of love and romance, it doesn't matter if you are single or attached, every Aquarius will have reason to celebrate!

Venus will be in Aquarius from January 1 to 13, favoring you at that time above all others. I particularly love the set of days that extend from Friday, January 6 to Sunday January 8, especially for you, dear Aquarius, especially if you are single. Those are gold-star days, for Mercury will be like an ambassador, accepting visiting dignitaries - Saturn first, and then Jupiter.

Venus teaches us that we should make ourselves as attractive as possible in order to draw love. This month, take steps to upgrade your appearance. This would be a great time to cut your hair.

If you are having plastic surgery that involves knives or needles, do not do anything while Mars is retrograde, because Marsh rules sharp instruments. Do what you'd like to do earlier, but I keep saying you don't need plastic surgery! You'd want to capture Venus in Aquarius, which will occur until January 13.

Aside from the weekend of January 6 to 8, which is extra special for single Aquarians, but of course, fun for EVERY member of your sign, you have some other days.

Attached Aquarians will especially love January 12, when the Sun and Mars will be nicely angled - this is a sexy, sweet vibration AND it falls on a Saturday. This day will go to show you, it doesn't matter how long you've been together. When you're hot, you're hot, and your partner knows it.

Attached Aquarians will also love Saturday, January 21, when you will have Uranus about to meet with the Sun, creating surprises and happiness galore. If you are thinking of popping the question now so that you can celebrate Valentine's Day by announcing all to friends and family next month, I second that motion! It may be fun to have a secret kept hidden for a month that nobody knows about the two of you. Enjoy yourself!

Now we come to a day so vital, I left it to last to tell you about, and it will benefit both single and attached Aquarians.

January 13 is an extremely important, highly glamorous day for romance, and falls on a Friday the thirteenth. Don't let superstition keep you home! On this day, Venus will meet in conjunction with Neptune, and together they will fly among the twinkling stars in one of the most romantic and dazzling shows of affection we will see for a long time. Both planets will be in Aquarius, and Neptune will drop his veil of love over the universe on that evening so that your mundane cares drop away and all you will care about is the person you hold tight.

This will be the last time in our lifetime that Neptune will meet with Venus, as next month, on February 3, Neptune will move on to Pisces. He will not be back to Aquarius until March 2161. No, that is not a typo. Neptune is one of the outer planets and as such moves very slowly. You have had Neptune to yourself in Aquarius for fourteen years, since January 1998, and in that time you expanded your creativity and vision enormously. Many of you have changed our view of the world and the potential that we hold. Since that time the world has seen incredible breakthroughs in science, the Internet, computers, telecommunications, biology, and medicine. We are left permanently touched by the gifts of Neptune, and it was he who inspired me to start your report this month with a poem.

Neptune is the higher octave of Venus, taking the love that Venus sparks and enlarging it so much that we are willing to sacrifice things for ourselves so that our beloved can be happy. Now that he is leaving your sign, it does not mean you will no longer find love. Of course not! You will carry Neptune's gifts for your entire life.

Now that Neptune is leaving, it is so fitting that the very last planet he will meet with in conjunction will be the glorious love-and-beauty planet Venus. Celebrate this evening in any way you like, and if you have a partner, make it the most romantic evening possible. Remember it - cherish it

Summary

As the month opens, Venus will be in Aquarius until January 13, so it's a fantastic month to schedule a new look for the New Year. Discuss a new hairstyle, makeup, or a new fragrance. Venus in your sign, orbiting close to Neptune, you will make you more creative in the way you approach your appearance. Speak to beauty and grooming professionals in the first two weeks, and you'll be thrilled with the result. Neptune will give you a glamorous, sparkling glow.

The full moon of January 9 may finalize a decision about your new fitness program for the year ahead. You may buy a gym membership, sign up for new classes, or learn a new sport. You'll really enjoy the healthy choices you make for years to come.

Medical matters will come to a conclusion now too. If you have been having medical tests or a series of treatments, like physical therapy, that protocol will end now. You may get a diagnosis at long last or, better yet, a clean bill of health. Either way, mysteries will be solved and you can now find yourself on a better path than you were before.

At the office, you'll have deadlines looming that will need to be finished within the week of January 9-13. Uranus, your ruler - and planet of unexpected developments - will be friendly. A new client may show up if you are self-employed, or you may be singled out by your boss for a plum assignment if you work for others. With your ruler Uranus so active this month (and in the BEST way), aim to surprise people with your originality and imagination.

You appear to have entered a period of high-spending in mid-November, and it will continue for six more months. It may be you are about to assume a brand new role, such as that of newlywed, parent, graduate student, homeowner, or shopkeeper, as a few examples, and that might explain why you have been writing so many checks. If not, you may have to be more careful about how you spend. This month, you are in a position to get good news about money on several occasions, including January 12, when Mars contacts the Sun on your behalf. You will have a number of stellar financial days, so in summary they include January 6, 8, 12, and 14.

Mars will retrograde on January 23 until April 13, so if you hope to negotiate venture capital, a line of credit, mortgage, refinancing plan, or financial aid for college, you will have to ascertain that your paperwork is flawless as otherwise you may find you are subject to nearly endless delays when the application comes back to you to correct. A certain slowdown may happen anyway, but you want to have your applications as accurate as possible to keep unnecessary bounce-backs and questions at bay. January would not be a good time to try to sell anything of value, as you are likely not to get a good price.

Your biggest moment will occur on January 23 with the new moon in Aquarius. So many opportunities lie ahead! Be alert in the coming 10 days, for lots of news will be coming to you. Uranus will be in great angle to this new moon, supporting you, and will bring you at least one surprise offer. You may now actualize a wish that is dear to you, so reach out and make an initiation on a project or venture that you feel passionate about. You could not wish for a better time to start. You may need to travel suddenly, but if so, only a short distance.

On top of this, if your birthday falls on January 23, or within the week of January 20-27, you will be doubly fortunate, for your whole birthday year ahead will be filled with fresh starts!

Venus will be in Aquarius from January 14 to February 8, great news for your looks and your love life.

Put the final touches on your fitness plan at the full moon January 9, plus or minus four days.

You are in a high spending phase now through early July. Still you may have to slow down spending, as Mars is going retrograde January 23 to April 13. If you need to get funds from an outside source, like a line of credit or a sum from venture capitalists, you are likely to meet obstacles until mid-April.

The new moon in Aquarius on January 23 is your green light to mobilize toward a dream dear to you, in any area. Small steps are fine. Those with birthdays that fall within several days of January 23 are doubly blessed.

Your ruler, Uranus, and the Sun will be beautifully angled on January 21, a great day for you in many ways, especially for relationships.

See a banker, discuss money on January 23 or 24, when Mars and Mercury will be beautifully angled and the new moon in Aquarius will favor you.

January 28 should be special for coming up with amazing ideas, for your ruler, Uranus, will combine energies with Mercury, bringing mental breakthroughs.

Why My Book Is Late

All year I was listening hard to all that you asked me on Twitter and Facebook. I realized how valiantly you were all coping with the challenges that a difficult world economy had wrought, and how dearly you needed to know which areas of your life would be bring you the greatest progress and happiness.

I had a manuscript almost ready, but thinking about your words, I felt I had to add much more material to it. What you asked me and what you said on my social networking pages kept echoing in my mind. So in November, I announced to my team I was lengthening the book dramatically. I was adding chapters and doubling each sign's chapter from what I had already written, which are now almost four times as long as my regular Astrology Zone forecasts. Only you can be the judge of what I have done, but I feel this book, still in progress, is the best book I have ever written. It would be easier if I didn't have to stop to write 40,000 words for Astrology Zone each month, but of course, I would always do that!

I set out to create a book that would help you every day of the year. Why, I asked myself, write a good book when I could stretch and push myself to create a great one for you. By now you know I am a perfectionist. My revamped book is the very best I have ever done. It is not finished yet, but I am working every day around the clock on it. It will be wrapped in joy and happiness and it will be of value to you. I have no idea when it will be done, but I know there is great urgency. I am working every minute on it.

There are authors of books out there that pretend to be my book and many of you have written to say you bought their book in error. You only noticed when, you said, it didn't sound like me. My book, a quality paperback book, is not sold in stores; you can only get it here on my website. You asked about digital versions. My book WILL be available on all versions of Kindle, Nook, and iPad. Apple has a long waiting process for publishers posting a manuscript, so the other two digital versions, on Nook and Kindle, will appear before the iPad.

To create my book and calendar, and to prepare for my talks, I memorized 312 charts (13 lunar months times 12 signs, times two lunations each month: a new moon and a full moon). I started this in April. I memorize all the aspects because sometimes something happening in one part of the sky will influence an aspect happening in another part of the sky - no aspect can be taken alone, by itself. For example, last year, on what was to be the luckiest day of the year, April 6 (Jupiter conjunct the Sun), we also had Saturn opposed to the Sun on the same day, completely washing out the happiness of the luckiest day of the year. I didn't even discuss it in my book - how could I? You see how I have to be vigilant to all parts of the sky for you - you are depending on me to do my homework thoroughly.

Many of you know my mother was extremely ill with pneumonia this summer and in intensive care and then in a nursing home for physical therapy for four weeks. My sister and I were at her side every day to help bring her back to her former strong health by showing her love and attentiveness to all her medical matters, and when she could eat, we brought homemade meals. Little Mom is well now. She is home, and doctors, who were ready to give up on her, cannot get over the remarkable recovery she has made.

I don't regret one minute the time I gave her to get her well again, even though it did take time away from my writing. She has no one but my sister and I to depend upon - together we worked as a team to get Little Mom well. This year the holidays were especially poignant, as we watched her blue eyes sparkle with delight in being with her four grandchildren, who had gathered around her at home to give her love, presents, and kisses.

Discover your rising sign, the most important element to learn!

If you don't know your rising sign, you won't get quite as much out of my monthly forecasts on Astrology Zone or my daily forecasts on cell phones (or delivered to your email box daily by Daily Astrology Zone). To have your chart done, you would need to know your precise time of birth, to the minute. If you do know it, then you would be wise to have your natal chart done. This explains why all Aries are not alike, or all Gemini - we are all a beautiful, rich combination of the rising sign and Sun sign, as well as a tapestry of the other planets. On the day you were born, the pattern in the sky will never be repeated in time or space - you are truly unique. What a magical piece of information!

Your natal chart will never change - it stays the same for life! You need only do your natal chart once and never again. Once you do have your chart, you will get more insight into your innate gifts and personality strengths.
